3 Safe Halloween Activities You Can Do On Your Deck
Halloween looks different this year, but there are still plenty of ways to celebrate spooky season without risking coronavirus. Celebrating Halloween is important because it adds excitement to the tedious routine of staying home. The best way to celebrate this year is with the members of your household, but by adding safety precautions like masks and social distancing, you can share the festivities with some close family friends, too.
Here are three Halloween activities you can do outside and socially-distanced.
1. Pumpkin carving
Carving silly faces into pumpkins already gets messy, so you might as well take it outside! Whether you pick the perfect pumpkin from a patch with the family or snag one on your way into the grocery store, this tradition sparks creativity and makes memories. If you can do so safely, invite your closest friends to your deck. If you all wear masks and maintain six feet of social distancing, this activity can be a fun celebration your child can share with their friends! Just make sure that only adults use knives.
2. Project a spooky movie
Hook up a projector to a screen on the back of your house, and bundle up on your patio furniture with the kids to enjoy your favorite Halloween film. If you have enough room in your yard, your friends and other families can spread out and enjoy the movie together.
3. Arts and crafts
Arts and crafts are a fun way to channel the Halloween spirit at home. You can enjoy the crisp fall air and keep a mess out of your house! Make spooky slime with this recipe from I Heart Arts n Crafts. You can also easily create pumpkin salt paintings and avoid the mess of normal paints. According to Natural Beach Living, all you need is watercolors, glue, and salt!
In order to stay up to date on the latest CDC safety recommendations, it’s important to check their website. And as always, evaluate risk based on what’s happening in your community.
