With football, pumpkins, apples and changing leaves, what is there not to love about the fall? It’s my favorite season. As we transition from summer to fall, here are some of Renew Crew’s update and upkeep ideas for you to consider this season.
As the leaves change, add some the colors of autumn to your outdoor décor. There are so many options that will make your home look more welcoming to friends and family. An update that’s easy but beautiful is to add a few pumpkins and bunches of mums to your front porch. Mums are available in yellows, oranges, and deep reds that look great! If you want something more involved, find a place to get some hay or dried cornstalk to dress it up.
With the fall comes early nighttime darkness. To provide sure footing and increase the safety and security of your property, you can invest in outdoor lighting. Just a few path lights can make a world of difference along the walkways leading up to your home. Our sister company, Outdoor Lighting Perspectives, provides beautifully designed, installed and maintained landscape lighting systems.
While making updates to your front porch and adding lighting will make your home look better, outdoor maintenance is still important in the fall. In fact, it can be more important than other parts of the year. Fall is known for its beautiful changing leaves, but those leaves can cause issues when not dealt with properly. As they fall, leaves will begin to puddle moisture and dirt. If they aren’t swept off walkways, driveways, decks and patios, it can lead to deep stains. Sweeping off your outdoor living structures as well as picking up any sticks throughout the season will pay off in the long run.
When it comes to cleaning your outdoor surfaces, in many ways fall is the perfect time to do it. During the fall and winter, a lot of natural debris can come in contact with your outdoor surfaces and settle in its pores. At Renew Crew, we clean surfaces, but we also protect them. That protection is important in the winter as it will stop a lot of the dirt and grime from getting into your decks and patios, leaving you with a great looking space come spring.

When it comes to being outdoors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s not surprising that outdoor surfaces need a little TLC from time to time. While power washing wood, concrete, vinyl or other outdoor surface with help aesthetically, it’s also important for the condition of the material.
This commercial building in the Charlotte area has a lot of wood siding. It’s beautiful with its rustic color and texture, however it was in need of attention. The wood had begun to dry out in the sun and grey. If you aren’t sure if your wood surfaces need cleaning and sealing, greying is one sign that it may be time to hire a pressure washing company. Another sign is if water is being absorbed into the surface instead of beading away.
When water settles in wood surfaces it can lead to mold and mildew. Mold and mildew, when not tackled appropriately and in a timely fashion can lead to deteriorating wood conditions.
With this structure, DIY was not an option. The height of the surface required the attention of professionals. Renew Crew of Charlotte was hired to clean and protect the surface. We were able to use our 3-step process to bring this wood back to life!
The first step is to spray the surface with our environmentally friendly wood cleaning foam. The foam is incredibly effective and is perfect for vertical surfaces. Instead of running down the wall like a liquid would, it adheres to the wood and penetrates deep into the surface.
After the cleaning solution is given a chance to work its magic, it is time to rinse the surface with the pressure washer, getting rid of the dead wood fibers, dirt and grime.
The last step is to apply the wood protectant and sealant. Renew Crew’s semi-transparent wood sealant comes in a number of colors but still allows the wood grain and knots to be appreciated. Because of the height of this space, Renew Crew of Charlotte had to use a roller instead of a sprayer.

At Renew Crew, our goal is to offer our clients excellent personal service while delivering a cleaner clean, a greener clean and a longer lasting clean – all without risking damage to your surfaces, be it a deck, patio, fence or other outdoor surface. Our 3 step deck cleaning process developed as a result of this goal, as did our exclusive, eco-friendly products and our decision to never use damaging high-pressure cleaning.
Proper deck cleaning and staining is crucial to optimum deck and fence longevity. Over time, mold, mildew and dirt accumulate on your deck’s surface as your sealant slowly gets worn away. A proper thorough cleaning prepares your deck for a fresh coat of sealant that protects your deck from water damage, sun damage and everyday wear and tear.
Hiring a professional pressure washing company is a big decision and you should feel good about who you hire to clean and deal your deck. At Renew Crew, we call ourselves the wood experts since we’ve been in the business for over 15 years. Here are some of the benefits of hiring Renew Crew:
- All of our outdoor surface cleaning and sealing products are eco-friendly but don’t compromise quality. They clean as well (if not better) than harsh chemicals, but won’t harm the surrounding grass, bushes, flowers or other natural material.
- Our semi-transparent wood protectants complement the wood’s natural appearance and shows off its grain and textures, while resisting UV graying.
- Our protectants come in a variety of colors that complement your home’s façade and finishes.
- All of our sealants provide one-coat coverage, a mildew-resisting coating and long-term water repellency.
Trust us, when it comes to deck cleaning and staining, a Renew Crew Clean is about as zero fuss for you and total renewal for your deck. Our 3-step process is the best way to transform your deck from a beast a beauty.
