Have and Outdoor Shower? Make Sure you Clean it!

My aunt and uncle built a new house just last year. They are big into the outdoors and can be found biking, hiking or kayaking pretty much daily when the weather is nice. Instead of traipsing through the house while dirty, they decided to install an outdoor shower at their home. The shower itself was beautiful when it was first built, but it’s already showing its age. A recent job from our pressure washing expert in Richmond reminded me of this predicament.

Tim Wright was recently brought to the client in Chesterfield that needed to have their outdoor shower cleaned and protected. Wood outdoor showers are beautiful, but its isn’t surprising they require regular maintenance. Not only are they vulnerable to the elements, just like other outdoor surfaces, but they are arguably exposed to even more.

It’s normally for any wood surface to start to grey as it’s in the sun more and more. Additionally, when the wood’s sealant starts to deteriorate homeowners will notice an increase of mold and mildew. Soap and shampoo residue can add to the issues of aging wood when the sealant is weak.

Tim and his Renew Crew – South of the James team, which services Chesterfield, Midlothian and the surrounding areas, tackled the outdoor shower and brought back its color and life with our 3 step process:

1. An eco-friendly wood cleaning foam is applied to the wood’s surface. The foam is exceptionally effective because it can work its way into the pores loosening dirt and grime before just streaming off like liquid can.
2. Once the foam has done its job, the surface is then pressure washed to rinse everything away. Wood is noticeably cleaner during this step.
3. The final step is to protect the wood. Without protection, wood is susceptible to additional dirt and grime. Our eco-friendly wood protectant enhances the wood’s color and stops moisture, dirt and UV rays from settling on the surface.
