Wood Siding Requires TLC too
When it comes to being outdoors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s not surprising that outdoor surfaces need a little TLC from time to time. While power washing wood, concrete, vinyl or other outdoor surface with help aesthetically, it’s also important for the condition of the material.
This commercial building in the Charlotte area has a lot of wood siding. It’s beautiful with its rustic color and texture, however it was in need of attention. The wood had begun to dry out in the sun and grey. If you aren’t sure if your wood surfaces need cleaning and sealing, greying is one sign that it may be time to hire a pressure washing company. Another sign is if water is being absorbed into the surface instead of beading away.
When water settles in wood surfaces it can lead to mold and mildew. Mold and mildew, when not tackled appropriately and in a timely fashion can lead to deteriorating wood conditions.
With this structure, DIY was not an option. The height of the surface required the attention of professionals. Renew Crew of Charlotte was hired to clean and protect the surface. We were able to use our 3-step process to bring this wood back to life!
The first step is to spray the surface with our environmentally friendly wood cleaning foam. The foam is incredibly effective and is perfect for vertical surfaces. Instead of running down the wall like a liquid would, it adheres to the wood and penetrates deep into the surface.
After the cleaning solution is given a chance to work its magic, it is time to rinse the surface with the pressure washer, getting rid of the dead wood fibers, dirt and grime.
The last step is to apply the wood protectant and sealant. Renew Crew’s semi-transparent wood sealant comes in a number of colors but still allows the wood grain and knots to be appreciated. Because of the height of this space, Renew Crew of Charlotte had to use a roller instead of a sprayer.
